About The Event

There is an abundance of wild delicious food hiding in plain sight, right under our nose, all around us, all the time, even in the city! Many of these wild foods are not only darn tasty but are also nutritionally superior to many shop-bought fruits & vegetables, plus many of them have the added benefit of having many therapeutic properties too.

It’s wild garlic & leek season just now, so during this workshop, we shall be getting close up & personal & concentrating mainly on these pungent plant pals. We will go out & gather some wild garlic & wild leek from along the banks of The River Kelvin.

As well as the wild garlic & leeks we shall look briefly at a variety of other easily recognisable plants & discuss how we can use them for both food & home remedies.

We shall take our stash of wild garlic & leeks back to The Soulfood Kitchen where we shall discuss what you

do with them, other than the very obvious pestos & there will be a selection of wild garlic-based nibbles

for you to try along with a few other “wild” nibbles. We shall enjoy a wild garlic-based meal prepared by The Soulfood Kitchen.

All of the recipes for the foods you try will be available on request.

You are strongly recommended to bring along a notebook, some comfortable shoes or wellies which you don’t mind getting muddy & a waterproof jacket, you know what our wonderful Glasgow weather can be

like!

Vicky is a keen forager, going out with her grandmother from an early age, to collect plants for food & medicine, amongst other things, to use in the home. She runs regular foraged themed activities & workshops, alongside sourdough workshops,

with the aim of helping people reconnect with Nature. She strongly believes that the huge benefits of foraged plants & being in & around Nature should be accessible for everyone, regardless of age or class distinction.

The perfect Mindful moments are to be had when we are being held in awe of our natural world & what She provides us with if only we could see it. If you would like to explore these topics further, or simply get in touch, you will find her on Facebook &

Instagram as The Little Foragers Kitchen.
